Book of Longing (Philip Glass, 2007)

Book of Longing represents a collaboration between Leonard Cohen and Philip Glass, involving 22 poems by Cohen, some read by him, and others sung by members of the Philip Glass ensemble. Of the read poems, one, the prologue ("I can't make the hills") includes a somber accompaniment throughout, while most of the others are unaccompanied counterpoints to instrumental solos. This tribute is released through Judy's own independent record label Wildflower Records. Leonard Cohen recites the poem "Since You've asked (1:27). Other singers contributing to the project include Joan Baez, Rufus Wainwright, Dolly Parton, Hynde, Dar Williams, Jimmy Webb, Shawn Colvin, Arlo Guthrie, Amy Speace, The Webb Sisters and Puressence's James Mudriczki .
