Google translation of the introduction:
Immediately after the release of Songs of Leonard Cohen in 1967, he was hailed as the new poet of the song. Cohen's melodies were catchy in all their simplicity; his lyrics were completely unique and unique - romantic, mysterious and with a dark humor. Suzanne became a world hit, in the Netherlands in the performance of Herman van Veen, on text by Rob Chrispijn.
No matter how popular Leonard Cohen has been, even after his death, hardly any texts have been translated from him. This changed at the initiative of Henk Hofstede, singer at the Nits and the Avalanche Quartet. He invited a number of colleagues to provide their favorite Cohen song with a Dutch translation. In the collection Hallelujah! these texts were collected, supplemented by the Flemish adaptations that the young deceased Yasmine had put on record. On 18 September 2017 a unique concert took place in De Kleine Komedie in Amsterdam: a tribute from Dutch artists to Leonard Cohen. On this occasion everyone sang a song from Cohen, mostly in their own Dutch translation. Thanks to the Avalanche Quartet, Frans van Deursen, Jan Eilander, Fay Lovsky, Huub van der Lubbe, Beatrice van der Poel and Gé Reinders. Alex Roeka, Jan Rot, Fréderique Spigt and Rick Treffers came very close to Cohen's poetry. The highlights of the evening now appear on this double-LP - as a reminder for the lucky ones who were there, and as a consolation for the many Cohen fans who had to miss the concert. As an encore there is a performance by Remco Campert, who in his characteristic way reads seven poems by Cohen translated by him.
