Leonard Cohen is a Canadien poet/novelist who embarked on a successful singer/songwriter career - his songs being in the mood of his novels and poems - and his life. His tunes are not funky but have a hypnotic repetitiousness to them. Judy Collins was the first to record a Cohen song entitled SUZANNE* in 1966. In the Summer of the following year, she did a concert in New York's Central Park and invited Leonard Cohen up on stage with her. His first album was released in 1968 and was followed by a European tour with a backing group that included Bob Johnson, who became his producer. At the turn of the decade he became something of a cult figure and every avide record collector would have at least one Leonard Cohen album.
