- Written by Gilles Tordjman, a French journalist and musician having writing in influential magazines such as Les Inrockuptibles or Playboy, this new biography is an interesting piece of work. Relatively concise, composed with skill and benefiting from the vivacity of the author's style, it stands as a really pleasant book to read. And it's especially enlightening too : Tordjman's often brilliant analysis on subjects just like Judaism, philosophy, Zen, sexuality, Cohen's legacy, etc., allows the reader to penetrate the poet's spirituality and appreciate his unique status in history of popular music. But the book could have been more impressive, and very good, if it hadn't been plagued by an important number of errors and mistakes about names, titles, dates. - Anthony Boile
